You have over a hundred saved images on Pinterest, keep adding new ones, but when you look at them all together – the vision of the bathroom or living room you want isn’t much clearer? Sound familiar?
On one hand, you love boho because it always reminds you of Bali. On the other, you can’t stop resting your eyes on gray minimalism. And off to the side, a neon sign blinks: “What’s your style?”
If you’re currently furnishing or renovating and feel like saying, “Here, take it all—I like everything, just help me,” this text is for you.

Here are a few steps you can follow on your own to clarify what truly feels right for you and what you actually need — not in terms of trends or labels, but in terms of everyday functionality. At the end of the post, you can download a PDF worksheet that will help you write everything down, save it, and share it with an interior designer if you decide to work with one.
You don’t have just one style. You have a layered story.
Sometimes you like soft, gray-beige, and calm. Sometimes you want a bit more color. Sometimes you need an empty table. And other times, a room full of books. The fact that your choices vary doesn’t mean you’re indecisive. It means you’re alive. That not every day is the same, and your mood changes throughout the day. That your needs evolve.
And your home should reflect that too.
How to discover which interior style suits you?
Here are a few steps that can help you clarify what truly matters to you in a space:
1. The space where you felt good...
- Where was it?
- What did you like about that space (colors, light, layout, furniture…)?
- How did you move around there? How did you spend your time?
2. Visual inspiration – what repeats itself?
- Save or pin 5-10 photos of spaces you like.
- Look at them together. What repeats? (colors, materials, details)
- Do they feel empty or full? Warm or cool? Calm or exciting?
3. Your life rhythm and needs in the space:
- Which rooms do you spend the most time in?
- What bothers you most about the space you currently live in?
- What do you feel is missing?
- Do you prefer your things to be visible or hidden?
- What does your ideal morning at home look like?
4. Words that describe your ideal interior:
- Choose 5 words that describe how you want to feel in your space. (Warm. Airy. Practical. Open. Quiet. Tidy. Playful. Whatever suits you.)
5. tyle in 5 sentences: Try to describe the space you’d like to live in, in a few sentences. It doesn’t have to be technical. You can start with: “In my space, it’s important to me that…”
In conclusion:
Answer the questions when you feel calm or joyful. The answers you give then will guide you toward an interior that supports that mood. A space has more power and influence on us than we usually assume. That’s why these answers aren’t meant for a designer’s brief but rather a conversation with yourselfOnce you write down what truly feels right, everything else becomes easier — for both you and the designer.
