When you think of ecology, you probably first imagine recycling, planting trees, or solar panels.\u00a0
But\u2026 what does your interior have to do with that?\u00a0
More than you might think.\u00a0
And no, you don\u2019t have to redesign your home from scratch. It\u2019s enough to start seeing things differently \u2014 your walls, furniture, lighting \u2014 because sustainability begins with small choices.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In honor of Earth Day (April 22), we\u2019ve gathered a few ideas for how your home can quietly support the planet.\nNo drama, no extreme makeovers. Just a bit more awareness.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Materials that know where they come from<\/strong> <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Choose natural, recycled, or locally produced materials whenever you can. You don\u2019t have to trace the origin of every plank, but you can ask: is there a version of this that travels less, consumes less, and lasts longer? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Old doesn\u2019t mean bad (or less beautiful)<\/strong>  <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Restoring old furniture isn\u2019t just an act of nostalgia \u2014 it\u2019s a stand against overconsumption. A good armchair never goes out of style. Maybe it just needs a new cover. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Light that doesn\u2019t use more than it should<\/strong>  <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        LED lighting, motion sensors, and natural daylight \u2014 all of these make a difference. They might not drastically change your electric bill, but they\u2019ll change your habits.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. More nature inside = more respect for nature outside<\/strong>  <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Bring in plants, open the windows, use natural fabrics. Let your space breathe. When you start to experience your home that way, you naturally begin to think differently about the world outside it too.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            You don\u2019t have to get rid of everything at once. But next time you\u2019re buying d\u00e9cor or packaging, choose wood, glass, metal, or ceramic \u2014 materials that don\u2019t fall apart, physically or symbolically.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Your home doesn\u2019t have to be perfectly styled to be consciously designed.\u00a0
